small world

It's Monday afternoon and I imagine that most of our grandkids are fast asleep on Sunday night.  We had a short meeting this morning with the District.  We have two new elders and one new sister.  Sister Smith was in the MTC learning Mandarin and she is from Idaho Falls.  Elder Leishman is also brand new, speaking English, and he's also from Idaho Falls.  Elder Eden is not new to the mission and will serve with Elder Tolson.  However, that's not why I titled this post as a small world.

Last night we had a meeting with the Stake Presidency, Bishop Loney and Brett Baker, one of the members of the Stake High Council.  The contents of the meeting shouldn't be shared today but it was such a sweet experience to visit with those men, and especially to have Evelyn there.  The spirit was strong and it was sweet to watch the workings of the Lord.  Now the fun part;  President Stuart's nephew is visiting from another part of Australia and we were visiting with him as we were leaving the home.  He's a tall 13 year old and has an outgoing personality.  Sister Weber was talking with him and telling how Elder Lee, in our District, was a surfer back in South Korea.  This young man grinned and said, "well, that's nothing, we have an Elder back where I'm from who's last name is "Jetski".  We both grinned because several years ago we were introduced to a new physical therapist who wanted us to understand his name and he said, "Jetski,  without the "t" sound".  That good man is now serving as our Bishop in Freedom, Wyoming and was the Priesthood leader who interviewed us to serve our mission.  Bishop Jeske was a brand new Bishop, this last Spring when he sent in the papers for his own son, who then received his call to serve in the Australia, Adelaide Mission.  Elder Jeske
is doing  a great work here.

Tonight we're having FHE at the Lyneham church for a couple of reasons.  One of the sister missionaries pointed out that last week, while getting in their car after FHE, a neighbor told them how loud and disruptive we are every Monday night and that the cars were being parked on the grass and breaking sprinklers.  It's also been quite a crowd, here in the flat, with 30 YSA so now seems to be a good time to move it.  The church won't be as conducive to a "family" experience but we'll have the room to grow and the building will always be available.  Evelyn is making breadsticks and we're buying KFC chicken.  She's also made about 40 cups of pudding to play our traditional game of "nut in the pudding".  She's put 3 nuts so there's more chance of winning and we bought 3 little "prizes" for whoever gets lucky.  I think Michael as one more than any of our sons and I'm fairly confident that I've never won it.  After a short thought and prayer we're going to head out, under the direction of the missionaries to go caroling.

We received an email saying that our new washing machine won't be delivered until a week from today.  Guess we'll get to find out where the local laundromat is located.
