Sunshine

It's such a beautiful sight, to be able to look out on the patio and see sunshine!  The conditions are so much better, today and yesterday, compared to Sunday.  We're actually able to see clearly enough to identify cloud formations.  My eyes are not irritated and my throat, and lungs, don't feel as weighed upon.

Last night we held FHE for the young single adults here at our flat.  What a joy to have them back after a few weeks absence.  There were only about a dozen but they were wonderful.  We had a lesson around the teaching of Elder Uchtdorf and the premise of a great adventure.  What a great time of year to recognize the opportunities that are within our reach if we but seek and strive.  Afterward we played a game of "have you ever done" (that's the title I'm giving it) and it was fun to see the kids acknowledging life's adventures.  They stayed until after 10pm and the place was filled with laughter and love.  Sharfel, Conner, Joseph, Michael, Chris, David, Danni, Charles, Faith, Alexis, Leilani and Jules; we love you.  There were many who were not here that we look forward to seeing them again, as they return from holiday.

Yesterday, we were at a kitchen shop to buy a few items for our place and we struck up a conversation with the sales clerk.  She was very friendly and we got to speaking about her life here in Australia.  She told us how she'd moved to Switzerland, with her young family, many years ago.  She pointed at our tags and said, "you have a community, and friends, wherever you go but for me the move was so difficult and lonely.  I didn't have any way of making friends and you don't have that problem".  So true!  Wherever we go the church is there.  Wherever we look we can see brothers and sisters, whether it's in the church membership for amongst any people.  Sometimes, the vision of our Heavenly Fathers plan really makes the "strangeness" disappear.

Evelyn just finished making banana bread muffins and we're going to take them to some of our neighbors.  We're getting to know them a little better and it definitely helped create a "conversation" when the fire department showed up on Saturday.

I've been thinking about some of our grandkids as I watched them communicate with us, this past week, through the facetime.  Evelyn's teaching them how to speak "Australian" and it was hilarious.  Even Mabel was getting in on the accent.  Sophie is heading into her last trimester of pregnancy and we're excited for another Weber to join the world.

I was able to visit with my mother yesterday and I was hoping to calm her worries as she listens to the news and hears about the bushfires.  We're going to be just fine.  President Runia has been calling us every day and so far he's letting us stay.  Yesterday he was bold enough to warn us that his conversations are with the area presidency and even leaders from Salt Lake.  We're doing great!
