March 3rd

I have a real "love-hate" relationship when it comes to funerals.  I love hearing the gospel taught and the stories of a life well lived, however, I have a very difficult time dealing with farewells.  Yesterday, attending Simon Mamouney's funeral was wonderful, and hard.  Watching his wife and two children listen to the stories while staring at the casket was tough.  Mia, the daughter was brave enough to give one of the talks and I admired her strength.  There were quite a few differences between the services here and some of the traditions back in Wyoming.  I'm grateful to have been allowed to participate.

Last night was so much fun here with the Young Single Adults.  There were less than twenty in attendance but it seemed like everyone participated.  Silvia had us sing a hymn for our opening song that she's going to direct as a choir number for the Stake Conference in two weeks.  Evelyn had them play a game where they answered questions for different points as they competed against another group.  I think the title was "The Unfair Game" and it was really a lot of laughs.  Seth brought his friend, Alex, who has come several times and seems to enjoy everyone's company.  The big news of the night was that Seth has received his mission call and will be leaving in June to serve in the Australia, Adelaide Mission.  I told him to keep an eye out for Elder Jeske.  What's weird is to think that when he gets to his mission, Elder Jeske will have been serving for a year.

This morning we went down to Queanbeyan to help with the "Shoebox Tuesday" program.  The women had me assigned to one of those machines that stitches at the same time it cuts off the material.  I'm not even sure what it's called but it doesn't handle the same as a nail gun or a good Sawzall.  Give me a good 32 ounce, mill faced, hammer and I'm comfortable.

  1. Seth East - so Elder Jeske will need to look out for Elder East in the AAM.

  2. Seth is our grandson, so very proud of him, he is the only one of our 11 grandchildren who will probably serve a mission. We are so excited.
