Joy

I probably won't finish this until tomorrow but I have to record a few feelings on this Saturday night, before I fall asleep, exhausted.  We just returned from a ward dinner with the Red Hill ward. The people were warm and welcoming.  It was a potluck dinner and the food was great.  We made several new friends. After dinner the bishop led an open talent show. After his poetry reading Evelyn jumped up and said to me, let's sing the pioneer song. I kept objecting as I followed her up to the front of the cultural hall. She got everyone singing along and we actually sang it twice!  Well, they know us now.

On the way home we actually had to slow down for a family of kangaroos crossing the road.  We had seen some yesterday but this was our first dodging. I don't want to end up in a smash shop

This morning, on our walkabout we met the Wilkerson family that was visiting for a wedding.  Good long talk and we got enough information to send a referral to the missionaries in Dubbo.  (Going to sleep but will tell more after church  in an old scout hall in Goulburn)

It is now early Sunday evening and I can't remember a better Sabbath.  We drove away from our  flat about 8:15 with the town of Goulburn as our  goal. The town is within the boundaries of the Yerrabi Ward but the distance makes it so hard that many people can't come to church so one Sunday a month, ward and Stake leaders go there. We drove out and made it in time fo their 10:00 meeting , even with getting lost. They meet in an old scout hall. There were probably 24 members,  besides the visitors from Canberra.  After the sacrament was passed they asked us to share our testimonies.  There were 3 speakers including President Stuart.  After the meeting they spread a few tables with food and we visited for at least another hour. Evelyn played a game with the children that looked like 4 square and spike ball combined in the building.  We had a YSA meeting at 3:30 at the building in Lyneham. President Moir was in charge and David and Joe were there representing the young adults.  Most of the University students are leaving for summer break.

We've come back to our flat with a much clearer picture of where, and how, we can serve.

Today took me back to Hereford and Dumas Texas. I love seeing the workings of the church in the little places in the kingdom. Nazareth was a little place and so was Galilee.
