Family Night fun

Last night there were 36 people in this little flat.  It was the best of times.  Evelyn made cinnamon rolls that everyone was raving about and Dani brought sausages.  I couldn't stop smiling just watching these kids interacting together.  All of the young missionaries were also in attendance and there were a few investigators.  Jordan is a member of the Anglican church and he is actively studying the gospel.  He's planning on attending Institute tomorrow night and there were several others who indicated they would be coming.  George has recently returned from his mission to Hong Kong and he's quite the artist.  We played Pictionary and he was the star of the evening on the white board.

I printed out a picture that was taken during the framing of the barn in Star Valley.  I told the young people about the weight bearing capacity of a single 2 X 6 and compared it to the strength that comes when doubling the timbers or even tripling them.  We all have a limited capacity as we stand alone but when we unite, in marriage and in the membership of the church how much that is increased.  I didn't share Paul's teachings of uniting nor did I use section 46 of the Doctrine and Covenants but the simple evidence of strength in that room was substantial.  Next week we will be meeting in the Lyneham church and Joseph and Lexi will be in charge of an activity night for FHE.

Sunday we attended church in the Red Hill Ward and what a wonderful spirit.  Brother and Sister Samson spoke and they both did a great job.  Sister Samson is the early morning seminary teacher and Brother Samson has been called as the Elder's Quorum President.  They just moved here, from Sydney, a few months ago.  Their daughter, Hannah, was here last night and has come to Institute.  She's such a sweet young lady and her happiness shines through her smile.  President Samson led a discussion in the Elders Quorum and it was so sweet to look around the room and see those men, from so many different nations, bearing witness to Jesus Christ.

The computers and internet are such a blessing to this missionary work.  We keep track of each other, make announcements, and share information at the click of a button.  There are Facebook pages for the YSA and each Ward has its own page.  I'm able to call my mom, at least twice a week, and we're able to visit with the boys, and their families, through messenger and marco polo. It's so weird to look back, just a few years, and see the need for stamps and the anticipation of a weekly letter.

There are prayers ascending to heaven, for us, and from us.  They are being answered as we diligently do our part.  The past few days have been so beautiful because of the rains and cooler temperatures.  There is even some greenery showing along the roads and most especially, the bush fires have been dramatically reduced.  Thank you for all of your prayers and love.

Thought I'd share a quote from President Nelson that I will be using in Institute tomorrow evening.

"...the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.  When we focus...(on) Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening-in our lives.  Joy comes from and because of Him....Jesus Christ is joy!"
